The Straight and Narrow

2Ti 4:3-4 For there shall be a time when they shall not bear sound teaching, but according to their own desires, they shall heap up for themselves teachers tickling the ear,
and they shall indeed turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to myths.
I was going to post a video that I thought had really hit home for me. I was going to share it as something to be reckoned with, but instead I will post it as something that shows the pure hypocrisy of the teachers today. Below is the video... (okay for some reason it won't let me embed it now so here you go with the link)
The Prosperity Gospel (John Piper)
Wow right? So what did you think? Were you convicted at all? "I want me a BMW too, can JESUS do that?!" How is that "selling a bill of goods" doing for you? While I believe that there is a truth in the message, it was pointed out to me that video stank (yes I used that word, is that a word?!) of the typical hypocrisy rampant in ministry today. Take a look around Mr. Piper's website http://www.desiringgod.org/Store/ . Do you see it now? The selling of HIS interpretation of Yahweh's word?

Mat 10:8 "Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. You have received without paying, give without being paid.
I can see it now, the apostle Paul...
"Step right up Ladies and Gentlemen, right here, right now, you too can recieve a word from the LORD. Just $19.95 (throw in some infomercial twang and you get the idea), ACT NOW and you get free shipping on orders over $25!!!!!"
Look in scripture, when do we see Yahushua angry?

Mat 21:12 And יהושע went into the Set-apart Place of Elohim and drove out all those buying and selling in the Set-apart Place, and overturned the tables of the moneychangers and the seats of those who sold doves.

Mar 11:15 And they came to Yerushalayim. יהושע, entering into the Set-apart Place, began to drive out those who bought and sold in the Set-apart Place, and overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those selling doves.
Temper, temper, temper!!! Overturned tables? Sounds like an angry fit to me. Must have been pretty upsetting, should be for you too.
While in no way do I mean to single out Mr. Piper, but quite frankly if I were to list all the "ministries" that sell their goods, it would take all day to type it out on my little blog here.

I really liked your front picture...
You have a nice looking blog.

I don't believe you have an accurate view of selling the gospel, however.
John Piper gives away many things for free but has been such a benefit to promoting sound biblical teaching that people desire for him to work solely on that, not tent building.
Paul had times where he was financially supported and other times he needed to make tents so that he could receive enough money to live.
Just a gentle reminder to be careful not shoot arrows at the very warriors that are fighting for Christ's honor.

Paul may have been supported, but it wasn't by selling of the gospel, it was by storehouse of the church and free will offering. NOT a $19.95 special. John Piper is not being singled out and I thought I made that clear, he undoubtedly has been decieved as well by the babylonian "church" system.

Just wanted to add that Paul SPECIFICALLY said that he and his workers WORKED because he did not want to be a burder to those he preached to even though they could accept their gifts. They were making themselves very different from false teachers who made their living that way. It is important to READ the Bible. This is very clear in his gospels!

AND when Paul was in prison and praising fellow servants for supporting him..he was saying THANK YOU because the blessings they gave him would be repaid by God. He saw it as blessings they were heaping on themselves.

He was not selling his hand print (that was JUST on television..these "tv preachers" have no fear of God..it is amazing), a prayer cloth or anoited oil. He wasn't selling a "personal prophecy" or his praying for you.

BIG difference!

Many Blessings :)
